SmokePatch changes and plans

we are doing some changes in the smokepatch structure, it is important to read about smokepatch, in every release we describe all the information that the users might need.




patch size:

due to the large size files in smokepatch, the patch is getting bigger and bigger, which makes it harder to upload and download, and also expensive to upload and to host such big files. with the increasing number of new users coming in, our paid bandwidth is getting more expensive (we pay around 50$ per 1TB of bandwidth), and due to the large files we use 2TB of the bandwidth per week, so we need to take some steps that will make it easier for users to download (especially for users with slow internet speeds), and it will also make it better for smokepatch funding by moving the real faces from the full patch and make the face pack available as separated addons.

faces are moved to addons:

faces have always been taking more than half of the full patch, which made the patch too big in size, and it limited us from adding more, so starting with the upcoming patch (SP19 v2), the faces will not be included in the full patch, that will make the full patch size around 3 or 4 GB instead of 9 GB.

advantages of not including the faces:

- will make the patch size much smaller
- users will have the choice to add and use their own face packs or download our content.
- will be able to update and add faces separately in the addon.
- better file management.
- can be used with another patch (if using Konami or SP database)


SmokePatch full patch contents:
the contents of smokepatch full versions and the size varies slightly from game to game, the patch files come in cpk containers, we do not lock our files because we trust our faithful users as much as they trust us.

smokepatch contains:

- SP system files
known as base, the system files where the patch database is located, database includes all the added teams, players, and other features of smokepatch.

- SP graphics
including mini faces, real logos, and emblems, all created with the correct image settings for high def quality and light speed loading, making smokepatch graphics faster than the generic game and with better quality.

- SP kits
in smokepatch, all the teams have real kits, made with the best quality possible to us, and we constantly update the kits as much as possible, searching references and creating kits files takes time so if you find an old kit you will have to be patient until our kit maker reaches that team to be included in our updates.

- SP boots and balls
our boots and balls packs include a variety of items that will add much value to the game, we update our packs regularly to include new models from Konami updates, we also make changes and color variations in the updates based on game original boots as base models.
note that the rate of updating these packs is lower due to having higher priorities.

- DLC related files
every game get official upgrades, all the needed files from these updates are included by default in smokepatch, which can allow users to delete the official DLC files and save disk space (for offline only)



SmokePatch plans for PES games

PES 2020 SP20.1 (released)
sp20 always gets updates new contents, when there are enough added contents and if we find any errors we will release updates, the current version is 20.1.2


PES 2019 SP19 V2 (confirmed - in progress)
smokepatch is preparing a new patch for pes 2019, sp19 v2 (version 9.2) is a direct conversion from sp20.1 (database, kits, boots, balls, mini faces, ...)

this version will not include any added faces, will be around 3GB of size only, if the installer of this version finds a previous face pack already in the download folder of the game, the installer will use them and will not remove them.

a MEGA face pack is under testing, contains around 3000 real faces converted from:
- pes2020 default game
- pes2020 DLC faces
- smokepatch20 face pack

the total size of 12GB worth of faces is available for pes 2019 users as a separated optional addon.


PES 2018 / PES 2017 (understudy)
we are considering the possibility of converting the database to even older games, there are many obstacles to consider including the limited number of players that both games can handle, both games cannot handle the size of the new database so we are looking for solutions, we will announce any confirmed news.

it is useless to ask about release dates because we do not know, it depends on how many of us have free time to do tasks and how much time these tasks take, when we have any confirmed news it will be mentioned here on the smokepatch website.
